When Thursday {Classroom Management}

If you can believe it or not, school has not officially started for me yet, so my daily schedule is not completely ironed out at the moment. My district starts after Labor Day, so I'll be sharing a little bit about classroom management today.

For me, classroom management is the glue that holds all of the
pieces of the {classroom} puzzle together and allows
the magic of learning to happen!

Today I'm sharing 3 ideas that I have been using
in my classroom that work well for me.

The SmartBoard Morning Routine

Ya'll know I just started my blog a few weeks ago so I don't have a picture of this yet! I simply open up a Word Document or PowerPoint Slide and simply type up the morning routine. When the students come in, they are able to read it easily and it is consistent for them!

The Hand Signal Routine

This year I am looking forward to explaining how to use hand signals once again because when students do so, it gives me a clear indication of what they are asking for when they raise their hands. I also am able to know if a student needs something quickly.

The Job Necklaces Routine

I have made these tags to show the title of the job on the front of the necklace and have included an explanation of the job on the back. These necklaces are especially helpful at the primary level for a few reasons:

1. Students automatically know their job.
2. Students love wearing the tag which gives them a sense of pride.
3. Other students can easily see their peers jobs.
4. The student can read the explanation of the job on the back!

Well, there you have it, folks! I hope you're able to try some of these management ideas with your students. I'd love to hear some your management ideas too {so let me know about them by commenting!}.

  1. The hand signal idea is a powerful one! Hope it works well for you!

  2. I love the job necklaces! Super cute idea.

    The Organized Plan Book

  3. The necklaces are great! I bet they totally love wearing them too! I haven't started school yet either :) We start the day after labor day as well (except me, because kinder has family meetings all that week for each child, so we actually start the following week!)
Your blog looks great - you said you just started? I think your pictures in your posts are so organized with the labels! I will have to learn from you - nice to meet you in the blog hop!
